Error FRF - Error 22 attempting to route to path (folder name)

Summary: I setup Inbound Routing for my users so that faxes go to a network directory, and I am getting the error message in Event Viewer that states the following:

Error: FRF: Error 22 attempting to route to path folder (folder name). What is wrong?

Solution:
Problem: The network directory is more than likely an NT Network Share and the service account that is being used by the RightFax WorkServer Modules does not have permission to access the share and/or is not a domain account. Solution:

1.) Open Enterprise Fax Manager.
2.) Double-click on RightFax Workserver 1 Module.
3.) Click on Select Service Account as shown below.
4.) Enter the appropriate information for your Domain, User Account and Password in the area highlighted in the figure below. The account you use should be an account on your domain with proper permission to run services on the RightFax server.
5.) Once you input the proper information in the fields, click on OK and then on OK again. This will reset the RightFax WorkServer Modules with the new information.
6.) Add the service account used for the WorkServers to the permissions on the Network Directory share that the files are being routed to. It must have Full access to the share as shown below. The highlighted account has Full access to the folder share. Verify the permission on the Share Permissions tab and the Security tab.

Once these steps are completed, test by sending a fax to an account that is routing to the network directory and the fax should route properly.

Enable Fax Annotations in RightFax

For Windows compliance reasons, the ability to annotate is disabled by default on the RightFax server.
To enable the annotations, you will need to edit the Registry on the server. On the RightFax server, open the Registry Editor.

Go to HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Rightfax Client\VWR32 Edit the EnableAnnotations value.

Change the value from 0 to 1. Reopen FaxUtil on the RightFax server. The annotation tools will now be available.

Can you easily find your important business documents?
Like most people looking for documents, you would have to rummage through countless folders, wasting precious time and manpower. According to the Wall Street Journal, the average executive spends more than 6 weeks a year searching for misplaced business documents! By implementing a document capture solution such as OpenText Alchemy, you can save hundreds of hours that would otherwise be spent searching documents. Alchemy is a document imaging and document managing system, allowing you to store documents digitally. You then search through your repository, retrieving any business critical files. Alchemy captures and imports documents from sources like MFPs, desktop applications, fax machines and even your RightFax server (which on its own does not have document capture capabilities). For further information about Alchemy, please, click here

Some organizations do not have a VoIP set-up, but still require some sort of fax solution. You can leverage all the benefits and costs advantages of FoIP (fax over IP), without a VoIP infrastructure, by using a fax gateway such as our Dialogic Media Gateways (DMG). A fax gateway allows for scalability and flexibility by giving you the control whether or not you want to integrate into your current or future network infrastructure. This may be relevant if you are planning on upgrading your existing fax server or purchasing a new fax server and/or planning a VoIP implementation in the future. You still can get the benefits of using your legacy RightFax software by leveraging it with the DMG. To learn more, please click here

RightFax - Error 502 Mail Server Unreachable

Problem:
Fax Server - "Processed -502 messages but returned error -502 - Server unreachable (Mail Server) for the 0 in the batch" Message Appears in Windows Application Log.

Summary:
In Fax Server, RightFax Edition, using the RightFax Email Gateway, you may see the following event logged repeatedly in your Windows Application Log. Why does this error message appear, and how do you resolve it?

Error Message:
In Windows Application Log:

Event Type:                    Warning
Event Source:                 RightFax E-mail Gateway Module
Event Category:             None
Event ID:                       3317
Date:                              Date Value
Time:                             Time Value
User:                              N/A
Computer:                     ServerName
Description:                   CPTF:Processed -502 messages but returned error -502 - Server unreachable:                                       (Mail Server) for the 0 in the batch

Cause:
The RightFax Email Gateway is configured for SMTP, with a delivery direction of outbound, but no valid POP3 account details have been configured. Solution: Do not configure the RightFax Email Gateway for SMTP with a delivery direction of Outbound with Notifications if you are not sending outbound emails to Fax, or when no valid POP3 account information is configured.
If the Gateway is being used only for notifications, set the delivery direction to Inbound (not Outbound with Notifications). Notifications are considered inbound messages, so this is the correct delivery direction configuration to route them to users' mail boxes.

Error 231 in Transacting Named Pipe - RightFax

Problem:
The application log on the RightFax Server shows "Error 231 in transacting named pipe"
or
When trying to view faxes in FaxUtil or login to FaxUtil, "Error 231 in transacting named pipe" occurs.

Solution:
This error occurs for two reasons. Both are related to the RightFax database.

Cause 1: RightFax database unable to handle workload
You can expect this error regularly if you're sending a large batch of faxes each day at the same time.
If that is your situation, you might consider distributing the job throughout the day or adding an additional RightFax server.

Solution 1a: Determining work requests

To view the number of work requests that the RightFax server needs to process, log on to Enterprise Fax Manager, and then click Utility > Show work requests.

The number of work requests displayed for any field should not constantly increase during the day.
For any work request increasing beyond 1000, you might want to contact Advantage Technologies Support directly to determine the cause: (866) 730-7700

Solution 1b: Viewing RightFax processes
Use Task Manager to view processes on the RightFax server.
On the Processes tab, see if any processes are maxing out the CPU.
If the CPU is maxed out, then the Rightfax services and applications will run slower, possibly causing the "231" error.

Solution 1c: Viewing and increasing database threads
To view the status of the last RightFax database thread:
1. Open Enterprise Fax Manager.
2. Right-click the RighFax database module.
3. Select 'STATUS' from the dropdown menu
4. From the dropdown list of the status window, select the last database thread (NOT the file thread).
The last database thread should show total commands executed of zero. If it's not zero, increase the number of database threads by 2 and test again.
This number should not raise above 1 in a 24 hour period. If it is a large number within an hour after a restart, you should increase the number again immediately.
The idea is to fine tune the level so that the last thread is seldom used but you do not have a lot of threads that are unused.
Note: This will stop and restart the RightFax Server and database services.

To increase the number of database threads:
1. Right-click the RightFax Database Module.
2. Choose Configure Service.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Select a value in the Max Threads list.
5. Click OK.

Please be aware that with 9.0 when using MSDE, there is a limit to the maximum connections that can be made to MSDE, and exceding this number can cause issues.
